Abstract
This paper aims to point out the link established by Nietzsche between the diet and the understanding of life. It begins by highlighting the central significance that the philosopher from Röcken gives to the body and his interpretative-valuative approach, which allows him to critically address the relationship between eating and the spirit in various religious perspectives such as Christianity and Buddhism, as well as in the national experience of the Germans and the vegetarianism. It concludes by emphasizing that in the Nietzschean view, the act of eating has a decisive influence on the spiritual constitution of man, and this constitution defines the spiritual diet of the individual in his way of understanding and valuing life itself.
